Back in Black

Hello!

I have some good news.

You may remember I was recently diagnosed with testicular cancer; well I am pleased to report that following the removal of the offending testicle I have been informed that the cancer was a stage 1, meaning no spread and this has been backed up by a beautifully clear CT scan.

So, I am a very lucky man indeed.

I'll obviously continue to have follow ups with the oncologist to keep an eye on things and make sure the unwelcome guest doesn't decide to try and make a reappearance, but for all intents and purposes I'm home and dry and things can start getting back to normal. Please see below for all the information you need.

For those of you with orders already in that you haven't received yet, you are obviously top priority and myself and my wonderful wife are already hard at work getting pedals built for you.
There's a backlog of 200 pedals and we are hopeful that with us both working flat out you will all have your pedals shipped by the end of the month.

For those of you who haven't yet had a chance to purchase a 1991, your time has come! I will be making a number of 1991s available for pre order from 9am UK time on Saturday 17th September. Newsletter subscribers will get early access from 6pm on Friday 16th September, so if you want to make sure you don't miss out and haven't yet signed up, get your name down via the link below.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE ARE PRE ORDERS AND WILL SHIP BETWEEN THE 1ST AND 31ST OF OCTOBER.

As for the next FLB pedal release, this has obviously been set back a fair bit. Whereas my focus at the moment right now is to fulfil outstanding orders as quickly as possible, I am hoping that come October, the development sessions for the new pedal can recommence and a new release date can be announced ASAP.

I'll finish by saying a massive thank you for the huge amount of support, kindness, well wishes and patience shown to myself and my family during what has been a scary, but mercifully short ordeal.

All the best

Andy

  • I’m a bit behind on these post but I’m glad to hear that you had a clear bill of health although its a shame that you had to go through such an ordeal.

I was looking for somewhere to post a review of the FLB pedals while cooking Christmas Dinner. I have a Skeleton Key and a 1991. Both were gifts and boy do I love them both. FLB deserve a special place in guitars gear history – rather than trying to emulate the same vintage gear that 20 other companies have emulated they are putting out boxes based on a sound that millions of people love. I’ve spent loads of money on gear trying to build an signal chain that sounds a particular way and there are so many things to consider and tweak that it never really works. But BLAM! plug in a FLB and you got a great tone all the time. Because it based on something that already sounds great.

The Skeleton key can be considered a bit specific designed to sounds like QOTSA but you can use it to sculpt your own tone – i love using mine with other OD pedals there so much character in that pedal to play with.

I never really listened to Pearl James albums but the 1991 just sounds superb as an OD/Distortion pedal. Its actually very transparent which I love but you can get sweet rock tones from it or go heavy. Its ideal if you just want to turn up to volume and blow out some some riffs.

Theses pedals make getting great tones so much easier, almost unavoidable, and the price is epic – £25 more than a boss DS1? unbelievable. Most other companies would be charging closer to £200 for these. I cant wait to get more
